Cabanis's Bunting

Brown parrot with yellow belly, red undertail, and blue face, found in dry woodland habitats of the extreme southeastern part of Western Australia, on the western fringe of the Nullarbor Plain. In flight, the blue wings and red shoulders contrast with pale brown back; lacks the bright green back of other desert parrots. Identify from the very similar Greater Bluebonnet by a completely yellow belly and also by range.

Medium-sized woodpecker of high elevation pine and pine-oak woods endemic to central Mexico. Smaller than Hairy Woodpecker, which often occurs in the same areas; no range overlap with Arizona Woodpecker. Told from Hairy Woodpecker by big dark cheek spot on white face, dark brown (not blackish) upperparts with dark bars on ​white back patch, and extensive dark streaking and spotting on the underparts.

Large, spectacular, and solidly built hummingbird of humid evergreen and pine-evergreen forest in mountains; uncommon. Feeds at all levels on flowers and sometimes perches on prominent high twigs. Most striking feature is the bright rusty wings, which typically flash brightly as it hovers at flowers; also note the big white spot behind the eye. Male often looks blackish below; the pink throat rarely catches the light. Female is dusky grayish below.
