Coqui Francolin
Campocolinus coqui
Small, beautifully-patterned francolin. Males have a rufous head, while females have an elaborately-striped head, and both sexes show dark barring on the belly. Found on the ground in areas with thick grass, ranging from pure grassland to lush woodland. A generally shy and retiring species that sometimes sits out boldly when calling. Gives two distinctive calls: a repeated “co-qui” and a short series of cackling notes. Smaller than most other francolins, and bigger than quail and buttonquail. Its plumage pattern is distinctive when seen well.

Formerly classified in the genus Peliperdix, a 2020 study found it, the white-throated francolin (C. albogularis), and Schlegel's francolin (C. schlegelii) together comprise a new genus Campocolinus. The International Ornithological Congress has accepted these findings.

分布与栖息地
It mainly inhabits grasslands, steppes, savannas and dry scrubland, but also bright forest and grain fields. On high plateaus it lives up to 2,000 meters high. It is mostly resident throughout its range. It is mainly found in Africa's southern half but is also sparsely present in the western Sahel and Ethiopia. It is believed to be the most widespread francolin in Africa.

Rufescent Screech-Owl
Megascops ingens
Large screech-owl of mid-elevation cloud forest. General coloration is either brown or rufous with a paler belly. Note dark eyes and rather plain facial pattern. Ear tufts are usually indistinct. Separated from other screech-owls in range by dark (not yellow) iris and voice. Typical song is a fairly rapid series of soft whistles. Also gives a series that starts slower and then speeds up suddenly.
Red-kneed Dotterel
Erythrogonys cinctus
Attractive plover, but contrary to its name, it does not have red knees. Instead it has pinkish upper legs. Adult has solid black hood and white chin with a black breast-band and chestnut flank patch. Juvenile is gray with white underparts lacking the black or red. Fairly common resident around freshwater wetlands, where it often occurs in small flocks.
Buff-breasted Paradise-Kingfisher
Tanysiptera sylvia
Colorful kingfisher with very long white tail streamers, rusty-red underparts, and bright red bill. Head and wings blue, with black ‘eye-mask’ and white stripe running down the back. Juvenile has shorter tail streamers and a black bill. In the summer, breeds in the wet tropics of far north Queensland and southeast New Guinea, where it nests in burrows in termite mounds. Queensland birds migrate to New Guinea during the middle of the year.
