Kikuyu Mountain Greenbul
Arizelocichla kikuyuensis
Medium-sized chunky greenbul with a broken pale eye-ring. Note the gray head, softly striped cheek, and olive-green underparts. Common and conspicuous in montane forest. Often joins mixed flocks with other bird species. The song is a short series of barking and mewing notes.

The olive-breasted greenbul was originally described in the genus Xenocichla (a synonym for Bleda), then classified in Andropadus and, in 2010 re-classified to the new genus Arizelocichla. Also, some authorities consider the olive-breasted greenbul to be a subspecies of western greenbul or the mountain greenbul. Alternate names for the olive-breasted greenbul include the Kikuyu grey-throated greenbul and western mountain greenbul. The alternate name 'western mountain greenbul' is also used by the western greenbul.

Planalto Woodcreeper
Dendrocolaptes platyrostris
Large woodcreeper found in humid and montane forests and woodlands including woodland edges and gallery forests. The bill is medium length and fairly straight. Like many woodcreepers, it is largely rufous-brown, but it has buff streaks on the head, neck, throat, and upper back. The belly is marked with dark horizontal bars. Occasionally associated with army-ant swarms and regularly follows mixed-species flocks. The song is a repetition of 5–8 “whip-whip-whip” notes.
Buff-fronted Owl
Aegolius harrisii
Strikingly beautiful small owl without ear tufts. Dark chocolate brown above with pale spots contrasting with a creamy-rufous belly. The face is strongly marked with a dark line from the crown down across the eyes. Usually found in open woodlands, forest edge, and second growth without large trees. Voice is a low descending, rolling “prruuuu.”
Tuamotu Reed Warbler
Acrocephalus atyphus
A medium-sized, slender reed warbler with a strong eyebrow and a dark eye-stripe. Rufous morph is rusty brown above and pale below with a cinnamon wash. Gray morph is cold pale gray above and gray-buff below. Found in woodland and open brush, sometimes in gardens and plantations. Call is a low, harsh “chru,” often followed by a short whistled song.
