Arnot's Chat
Myrmecocichla arnotti
Chunky black chat with a huge white wing patch. The male has a white cap, and the female a messy white throat patch. Found mainly in miombo and mopane broadleaved woodland, and locally in bushy country and villages. Exuberant song is a fast series of clucks, whistles, and rattles. There is little range overlap with other black chats.

Jandaya Parakeet
Aratinga jandaya
Strikingly colored parakeet with a yellow head and chest, orange around the eyes and bill, orange on the belly, and blue flight feathers. Highly gregarious and noisy; can be seen flying over forests, woodlands, and agricultural areas, as well as in cities.
White-throated Kingfisher

Large-headed, predominantly brown kingfisher with electric-blue back and wings, heavy red bill, and snow-white patch from the throat through the breast. Common both near and away from water; frequently seen perched on fence posts and telephone lines near wetlands, lakes, agricultural fields, and clearings. Gives jarring, raptor-like descending trills and cackles, often in flight.
White-crowned Starling
Lamprotornis albicapillus
A large, distinctive, boldly patterned starling of dry country. There is a white crown and a white patch in the wing that is visible when perched and very obvious in flight. Also note the pale eye and brown underparts with white streaking. Found in dry thorn savanna, thorn scrub, towns, and villages, usually in small flocks, often associated with livestock. The vocalizations include slurred rattling notes, whistles, and whines.
