Nonggang Babbler
Stachyris nonggangensis
A medium-sized brown babbler with pale eyes and a lopsided white crescent bordering the back half of the cheek. Short-tailed and large-headed in profile. Dark coloration and relatively simple head markings make this species unique in its very restricted range. Highly selective in its habitat requirements: found only in seasonal karst-dominated rainforests, where it moves about in noisy flocks.

Spotted Catbird
Ailuroedus maculosus
Chunky rainforest bird with emerald green upperparts, black spot below the dark red eye, and green-olive underparts with extensive pale spotting. Inhabits the Wet Tropics of northern Queensland (Cairns region), thus does not overlap with similar Green Catbird. Forages mostly in middle and upper story of the rainforest. Compare female and juvenile Satin Bowerbird (with blue eye, darker bill). Spotted Catbird is well known for its characteristic catlike yowling call.

Blue-bellied Roller
Coracias cyanogaster
Chunky, distinctive, beautiful roller with long outer tail feathers. The body is mostly dark blue with a pale-gray hood. In flight, shows broad lines of pale blue across the middle of the wings. Found in broadleaf Guinea savanna, in human-created savanna, and along forest edge. Usually seen in pairs or small groups. The calls are dry cackles, usually given in a long bouncing series.

Nightingale Wren
Microcerculus philomela
Small, dark brown wren of humid evergreen forest in tropical lowlands and foothills; most often detected by its distinctive song. Usually stays low, on or near the forest floor in shady understory, and is difficult to see well. Note the small size, long bill, overall plain plumage, and stubby tail.
