Little Green-Pigeon
Treron olax
This aptly-named forest species is the smallest of the green-pigeons. Males are highly distinctive, with a blue-gray head and neck, orange chest, pinkish-maroon back, and green belly. Females are duller, but their combination of size, gray crown, and contrasting yellow-green chest serves to tell them apart from other green-pigeons. Pairs often forage and perch together, often on exposed bare branches. Like other pigeons, frequently gathers at fruiting trees. Song is a series of strangely buzzy rising whistles.

Yellow-streaked Lory
Chalcopsitta scintillata
A rather large lory of lowland forest and semi-open areas. Mainly green plumage, medium-length, rounded tail with red undertail, thighs and forehead. In flight, southwestern birds show a distinctive red front part of the underwing. Pairs often seen in flight. Similar to Black Lory which has slight overlap but Yellow-streaked, shows green plumage and streaks. Dusky Lory is smaller with smaller head, red bill and yellow patches in the wing. Call, a sharp, loud “chikeek!”.
White-breasted Wood-Wren
Henicorhina leucosticta
Very small, stub-tailed wren of humid tropical lowland forest. Favors forest understory, where usually found near or on the ground. Heard far more often than seen, and is notably elusive, even in fairly open understory. Common call is a metallic “peenk”; rather froglike and difficult to trace. Varied whistled songs rather short, usually introduced with a quiet whistled hiss. Note the boldly striped face, white bib, rich dark brown upperparts, and short tail. Gray-breasted Wood-Wren occurs in highlands.
Rusty-backed Spinetail
Cranioleuca vulpina
A small long-tailed bird found in gallery forests near water, mostly foraging in the understory. Rusty above and pale below with a white eyebrow. Similar to Yellow-chinned Spinetail, but has a pale (not black) lower mandible. The song, usually given as a duet, is a series of high-pitched notes.
