Angola Helmetshrike

A large seedeater with a very large pinkish bill. Males are brownish-olive above and yellow below with a diffuse but noticeable head pattern; females are brown above and white below with heavy streaking all over the body. Both sexes have a yellow rump that is conspicuous in flight. Found in dry thorn savanna, thorn scrub, and semi-desert, usually in pairs or small groups. The distinctive song consists of series of sliding whistles: several on a higher pitch, then several on a lower pitch, several on the higher pitch, and so on. Separated from all other seedeaters in its range by its larger size and heavier pale bill. 

A medium-sized bird that resembles a Shikra in plumage. Males have ashy-gray upperparts, white underparts with rufous streaking and barring, a broadly barred tail, and a distinct yellow eye rim. Females and juveniles are browner with bolder streaking below. During their breeding season males produce a loud, repetitive three note call. Common Hawk-Cuckoos feed mainly on insects and are specialised feeders that can handle hairy caterpillars. The species is arboreal and rarely descends to the ground. Mainly a brood parasite of babblers. Found in gardens, groves, and deciduous and semi-evergreen forests.

A small, chunky robin-like bird. Males are black and white and quite variable, sometimes having a white eyebrow and showing a variable amount of rufous on the underparts. Females are dark brown on the back and pale below, with some rufous on the breast. Found in a wide variety of habitats on the island of Reunion, including humid forest, heath, farms, gardens, montane grassland, and scrub. Most common at middle and high elevations. Perches up conspicuously and often flicks the wings. Distinctive within its restricted range. Song is a quick jumbled mix of high-pitched scratchy notes.
