Usambara Greenbul
Phyllastrephus albigula
A very small, warbler-like greenbul with an olive-green back, pale underparts, an olive-washed gray cap and nape, and a yellow or orange eye. Found in montane forest at middle elevations. Often joins mixed-species flocks. Very similar in appearance to Tiny Greenbul, but found at higher elevations and darker overall, with an olive-green wash to the crown and nape. Similar in overall coloration to Yellow-streaked Greenbul, but much smaller, with a pale eye. Voice apparently very similar to Tiny Greenbul’s. The call is a rough chattering trill that is often mixed with the song: an accelerating, syncopated series of low nasal notes.
分类信息
The lowland tiny greenbul was originally described in the genus Macrosphenus. Until 2009, the montane tiny greenbul was considered as conspecific with the lowland tiny greenbul as the tiny bulbul. Some authorities continue to consider the two species as conspecific. Alternate names for the montane tiny greenbul include the green-crowned greenbul, Usambara bulbul and Usambara greenbul.

Light-vented Bulbul
Pycnonotus sinensis
Common songbird of gardens, parks, and forests. Adult dark olive above, white below, with black-and-white head pattern. Hainan subspecies has a blackish head with white limited to ear patch. Juvenile dull brown above (greenish in wings), white below, lacking head pattern. Hybrids with Styan’s Bulbul appear intermediate, with the moustachial stripe and white feathers around the eye of Styan’s but at least partly white nape of Light-vented. Common song is a ringing series of four notes, “wee-wee-der-wee.”
Chalk-browed Mockingbird
Mimus saturninus
Large mockingbird found in a variety of open non-forest habitats including urban areas. Brownish-gray above and pale below with a white-tipped tail. Note the conspicuous broad white eyebrow. May become stained by local soils and appear browner. The song is very variable and includes the songs of other species.
Lazuli Kingfisher
Todiramphus lazuli
A stunning blue-and-white kingfisher with entirely blue upperparts in both sexes. Female has white throat and pale blue breast and belly, but male shows more white, with pale blue confined to belly. Juvenile resembles dull male, with buff throat, spot near bill, and speckled breast and collar. Found singly and in pairs in lowland wooded areas, including cultivated areas and mangroves. Pale blue underside is unique among kingfishers in its limited south Moluccan range. Rowdy vocalizations include repetitive “ker-chick” series and “ki-ki-ki-ki…” calls.
