Jos Plateau Indigobird

Iconic small green and yellow parrot found extensively across inland Australia. Largely nomadic, according to food and water availability. Usually found in small flocks zipping around overhead, but can congregate in staggering numbers under the right conditions. All native birds in Australia are green and yellow with a beautiful scalloped pattern on the upperparts and fine barring on the head. Small introduced populations and escaped birds scattered across the globe can include various other color forms such as blue and white.

A chunky, short-tailed, colorful savanna starling. Note the white chest band, white undertail, and white patch on the underwing, conspicuous in flight. Immatures have a dark eye and lack a breast band, but are usually associated with adults. Found in a variety of dry or moderately moist habitats including savanna, woodland, thorn scrub, and villages, usually in small flocks, sometimes with other species of starlings. Similar to Hildebrandt’s and Shelley’s Starlings, but easily separated by the white breast band. The calls include a variety of scolds and squeals. 

Large Australian robin. Male slaty gray above, with gray head and chin and small white spot above the bill. Breast and belly a bright orange-red. Black upperwing shows extensive white panels. Female brown above, paler brown below; darker wing with pale panels. In Tasmania, similar female Dusky Robin lacks pale wing panels. Forages in small flocks on the ground in farmland, grasslands, parks, and other open habitats in southeastern Australia and Tasmania.
