Olive Sunbird
Cyanomitra olivacea
Large, dark, olive-green sunbird with a long, down-curved bill. Can show yellow tufts on the shoulders, though these are usually hidden. Found in forest and adjacent gardens and lush scrub. Usually in the understory. Less social than other sunbirds, and often seen alone. Most distinctive vocalization is a pretty, up-and-down series of clear notes. Mouse-colored Sunbird is similar, but Olive Sunbird is more olive-green than gray.

The olive sunbird (Cyanomitra olivacea) is a large African species of sunbird belonging to the family Nectariniidae which encompasses species of sunbirds, spiderhunters, and flowerpeckers, and sugarbirds. It has a large distribution that spans across central Africa from western countries including Senegal, Guinea, and Angola towards eastern countries including Ethiopia, Kenya, and Mozambique. This range also extends to southern African countries including South Africa and Zimbabwe. It is mainly nectarivorous and lives in a variety of forest, scrubland, and modified habitats.

Chestnut-bellied Hummingbird
Saucerottia castaneiventris
Endangered hummingbird with a small range in the northern part of Colombia’s eastern Andes and in the San Lucas Mountains. Note the reddish-orange belly and bright rusty tail. Females and younger birds are duller than adult males and might be confused with Rufous-tailed Hummingbird, but lack green on the flanks. Inhabits lighter woodland and forest edge, and generally avoids dense forest.
Sooty Myzomela

Silky black with a slight bluish-green tinge to the wing and tail feathers when seen in direct sunlight. Juvenile has a distinctive fleshy yellow bill, tipped black. Found in most habitats, including gardens. Similar to immature Cardinal Myzomela similar but lacks reddish tones to plumage. Generally quiet, but most common vocalisation is a quiet, whispered chirping and churring.
Kidepo Lark
Corypha kidepoensis
A large lark with a long, strong bill and a long tail. Back is scaly-looking and underparts pale, with a black mark on the side of the breast. The wings show rufous in flight. Found locally in dry and open savanna. Similar to Red-winged Lark, from which it was recently split, but does not overlap in range. The song is a variable but repetitive mix of whistled notes and imitations of other species, usually given from the top of a bush, but sometimes in flight.
