Their breeding habitat is brushy, shrubby fields across eastern North America. The nest is an open cup on the ground under a clump of grass or in a small thicket. They often breed more than once in each season, and each time they build a new nest, the nest is built higher off the ground as the season progresses and leaves grow in..Their eggs are laid in May or June; they are pale bluish white, speckled and blotched with yellowish brown and grayish purple.<p>These birds are permanent residents in the southern parts of their range. Northern birds migrate to the southern United States and Mexico.

Pale-tipped Tyrannulet
Inezia caudata
Small, inconspicuous flycatcher found in the understory of coastal and gallery forests as well as mangroves. Key field marks are longish tail, whitish lores, stout bill, and (at close range) pale eyes. Forages low and occasionally forages on the ground; tumbles through vegetation in pursuit of insects. Quite vocal; calls include a slow series of descending whistles, loud for the bird’s size, and stuttering contact calls, both of which are distinctive once learned.

Choco Vireo
Vireo masteri
Rare vireo found only in lush Andean cloud forest in northwestern Ecuador and western Colombia. In contrast to the much more common Brown-capped Vireo, it has pale wingbars and may show an ochraceous wash on the throat and breast. Often accompanies mixed-species flocks high in the canopy, where it can be hard to see well. Song is a quick series of sweet-sounding notes that vary in pitch unpredictably.

Swainson's Hawk
Buteo swainsoni
Longer-winged than Red-tailed Hawk, but otherwise the same size. Found in prairies and agricultural regions of western U.S. and Canada in warm months. Varies in color from rather pale with white belly to completely brown. Light morph is more common with brown breast band contrasting with white throat and belly. In flight from below, note dark primaries and secondaries contrasting with whitish forewing of light morph. Winters in South America and along Pacific coast of Central America. Extremely rare in U.S. in winter.
