Vitelline Warbler
Setophaga vitellina
A small, brightly colored species of dry woodlands and scrub; sometimes visits suburban gardens and parks. It is very similar to the Prairie Warbler, which has a shorter eyebrow that rarely extends much behind the eye. Many Prairies have blackish streaking on sides, while the Vitelline sometimes has dusky streaking on the sides. Similarly, Prairies usually have a white vent as opposed to the Vitelline’s typical yellow vent. Song typically buzzy with three brief introductory notes followed by a longer up-slurred note and then a long down-slurred note: dzz-dzz-dzz-zzzzee-zzzzuu.
识别特征
This species bears a stark resemblance to the prairie warbler, sharing its streaking on the belly, yellow-green back, and subtle yellow wingbars, differing with the intensity of the black streaks. Its song is a string of 4-5 rising harsh buzzy notes.
分类信息
This species is part of the large New World warbler genus Setophaga. Currently, there are three subspecies described:<p>These subspecies differ noticeably in underpart coloration and head patterning. Some taxonomists have considered this species conspecific with the North American prairie warbler. However, a genetic study confirmed its species status, while reaffirming a close relationship between the two species.

White-eared Night Heron
Oroanassa magnifica
Rare and elusive night-heron with a bug-eyed, almost “alien,” appearance. Highly localized, seldom encountered far from its nesting colonies and roost sites. Black above with gray streaking on the chest and a clean white-and-orange head pattern, though this can be hard to see in poor lighting. Forages quietly in well-shaded forest streams, but most reliably seen in its small breeding colonies, usually hidden deep in a stand of bamboo or evergreen trees.

Cinereous Becard
Pachyramphus rufus
This small becard is fairly widespread in lowlands and foothills in northern South America. Males are gray, slightly paler below, with contrasting black cap and relatively plain wings. Females mostly rich rufous with paler lores and a whitish belly. Not a forest bird; found in more open woodland, edges, and second-growth. Usually seen in pairs.

Shear-tailed Gray Tyrant
Muscipipra vetula
Large black-and-gray flycatcher with a long, forked tail. Forages in the canopy at the edge of montane forests and second growth. It has a gray body with a slightly dusky mask and dark wings and tail. Usually silent, but occasionally delivers low “puupi-puupi” notes.
