Crested Tit
Lophophanes cristatus
A charming inhabitant of coniferous and mixed woodland, forests, and pine plantations. The only small songbird in northern Europe with a distinct crest; also note the distinctive head pattern, a mostly pale face with a blackish frame to the cheeks. Often joins mixed-species flocks in autumn and winter, feeding mainly at middle levels, even on the ground. Gives a bubbling trill, typically preceded by a high-pitched intro note or two.

This species was formerly placed in Parus, but the distinctness of Lophophanes is well supported, and it is now recognised by the American Ornithologists' Union and the British Ornithologists' Union as a distinct genus.<p>The current genus name, Lophophanes, is from the Ancient Greek lophos, "crest", and phaino, "to show". The specific cristatus is Latin for "crested".

It is an easy tit to recognise, for besides its erectile crest, the tip of which is often recurved, its gorget and collar are distinctive. It is, like other tits, talkative, and birds keep up a constant zee, zee, zee birdsongⓘ, similar to that of the coal tit.<p>It makes a nest in a hole in rotting stumps. This bird often feeds low down in trees, but although not shy, it is not always easily approached. It will join winter tit flocks with other species.<p>Like other tits it is found in pairs and it feeds on insects (including caterpillars) and seeds.

Turquoise-fronted Amazon
Amazona aestiva
Large, frequently encountered parrot of woodlands, savannas, and open areas. The body is bright green with a blue forehead and a yellow crown. The amount of yellow on the head varies between individuals and regions; some having mostly yellow faces. The amount of red or yellow on the shoulders also varies. In flight shows large red patches on the inner wings.
White-winged Grosbeak
Mycerobas carnipes
A brightly-colored finch usually found in hilly or montane coniferous and mixed forests. Male is black above and yellow below. Female is similar, but has a brownish-gray head and chest. Both sexes have white and yellow patches on the wings. Male resembles his Spot-winged Grosbeak counterpart, but White-winged has fewer white spots on the wing and a black (not yellow) chest. The female White-winged superficially resembles female Collared Grosbeak, but female White-winged has a white spot on the wings.
Three-striped Warbler
Basileuterus tristriatus
Active, often noisy warbler found at lower to middle levels of montane cloud forest. Note the olive upperparts and dark and pale pattern on head. Underpart color and extent of cheek patch vary through its range. Dark stripes on head usually contrast with back, and eyebrow is white, not yellow – these two features help to separate it from other similar warblers in range. Usually seen in pairs or family groups. Typical song begins as a rising trill and then morphs into chaotic chattering.
