White-striped Warbler
Myiothlypis leucophrys
Hyperactive warbler that nervously and continually flicks its tail in the understory of forests near water. Note the broad white eyebrow fringed with gray and the narrow dark mask. It has a gray shawl, a white face, and is mostly olive-green above and gray below. The song is a loud melodic series of tinkling notes.

Striated Babbler
Argya earlei
Brown babbler with a finely streaked back and crown. Also note bright yellow eyes and faint pale “moustache.” Social, usually encountered in flocks as they clamber about in lowland reedbeds, wet grassy areas, and scrub. Gives sparrow-like “chirrup” and sharp “pee-cheer.”
Spectacled Owl
Pulsatrix perspicillata
Uncommon but unmistakable. Very large spectacular owl of humid evergreen forest in tropical lowlands and foothills. Often roosts at low to middle levels, usually well hidden in shady spots, and flushes easily. At night, favors open forest canopy and forest edge, but calling birds can be well hidden in foliage. Song is a resonant, pulsating series of deep hoots, sounding rather like a sheet of metal being flexed quickly; an uncommon variant call of the Mottled Owl sounds rather similar.
Moreau's Sunbird
Cinnyris moreaui
A medium-sized sunbird. Males are very colorful, with a shining coppery-green iridescence on the head and back and a purple-and-red breast band with yellow sides. Females are drab yellowish-brown. Found locally in montane forest, especially clearings and forest edge. Similar to Forest Double-collared Sunbird, but there is only minor overlap in range, and males are separated by their broad yellow sides. The calls include a squeaky “tseet” that often precedes a very quick jumble of high-pitched notes.
