Mottled Wood-Owl
Strix ocellata
Medium-sized patchy-looking owl with dark eyes. Densely-marked orange-and-gray coloration is unique. Typically gives single hoots, but also gives an odd, mellow tremolo vocalization in the breeding season. A lowland species, favoring groves and clusters of trees in open plains and on the edges of cultivated areas.

This large owl lacks ear tufts and is mottled and vermiculated in reddish brown and white. The face disc is marked with fine concentric black and white barring. The sexes are alike. The chin is white. The eyelid is orange, and the iris is dark brown. The tail is barred narrowly in brown and black. The concentric barring on the face and mottled crown separate it from the brown wood owl in southern India.<p>There are three subspecies recognized and there are no sharp demarcations in their distributions.

分布与栖息地
The species is found in the plains in gardens and lightly wooded habitats. They roost in trees during the day, choosing a branch with dense foliage. An old specimen from Lahore is noted, but no records in recent times from Pakistan. The distribution extends east to West Bengal. They are also seen in various parts of India. Recently a doctor named Dr Arpit Bansal based in Prayagraj captured its images. Also it was observed and images were captured by an enthusiastic photographer named Sachin Yadav in Kasimpur village of Azamgarh district, Uttar Pradesh.

Rufous Songlark
Cincloramphus mathewsi
Plain brownish songbird with faint pale eyebrow and rust-colored rump. Similar female White-winged Triller has white-edged wing panel. Brown Songlark larger, with longer legs and bill and more strongly patterned upperparts. Found across much of Australia, less so in the southeast, in treeless open habitats. Spectacular song includes long sequences of trills and loud electrical phrases, very unlike Brown Songlark.
Madagascar Blue-Pigeon
Alectroenas madagascariensis
Medium-sized chunky pigeon that is dark blue with a maroon tail. Appears short-tailed in flight. Found in and around rainforest in eastern, central, and northern Madagascar. Most often seen perched up conspicuously on emergent trees, feeding on fruiting trees, or in flight in small flocks. Virtually silent, which is very unusual for a pigeon. Dark-blue coloration separates it from all other pigeons on Madagascar.
Baird's Junco
Junco bairdi
Distinctive sparrow found only in Sierra de La Laguna mountains near the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula. Pale gray with rufous back usually extending onto wings, white outer tail feathers and a staring yellow eye. Rufous continues onto sides; bill half black, half yellow. Forages on the ground, but perches higher when singing. Song has a similar ringing tone to other juncos, but usually with several distinct sections of chips and trills.
