Lesser Masked-Weaver
Ploceus intermedius
A small, slender weaver with a whitish eye and distinctive slate-colored (not pinkish) legs. The male has a black mask that extends to the peak of the crown in breeding plumage. The female is nondescript but has a distinctive pale eye and white belly. Pairs prefer riverine thicket and wooded savanna, where they breed colonially. In the non-breeding season, they form large flocks that may wander. Most other pale-eyed weavers have pinkish legs and a yellow crown in breeding plumage.

South American Tern
Sterna hirundinacea
Medium-sized tern, mostly restricted to coastal areas. In breeding plumage, strikingly pale gray above and below with an extensive black cap, and an unmarked red bill and legs. The tail reaches beyond the wing tips when at rest. Wings are uniformly pale gray with no black. Nonbreeding birds have a half hood. Juveniles are mottled brown on the back.
Carbonated Sierra Finch
Rhopospina carbonaria
Plump tanager of arid lowlands in central Argentina, chiefly in northern Patagonian scrub. Similar to larger Mourning Sierra-Finch, but Carbonated has a less deeply curved top of bill, extensive black on underparts, and, in males, a pure yellow bill.
Solitary Snipe
Gallinago solitaria
A barrel-chested snipe with a dark brown back and frosty-pale face and belly. Breeds in far northern bogs and near streams, where it may even winter if water remains open; the only snipe likely to be seen in this kind of habitat in the colder months. Also winters along rocky streams and artificial canals with flowing water. Much darker and more silvery-gray in coloration than other snipe species, which are a paler brown overall. Flies straight and powerfully; does not zigzag in flight like Common Snipe and Pin-tailed Snipe.
