Swamp Greenbul
Thescelocichla leucopleura
A loud, boisterous greenbul that is dark gray-green above and pale below. The back, head, and cheeks are all brownish, but feathers on the head have white centers that give them a distinctly grizzled appearance. The underparts grow plainer and whiter toward the tail, which is long and brown with bright white outer feather tips. Most often found near wet, swampy forest, particularly in areas with Raphia palms. Swamp Greenbul flocks are often located by their cacophonous calls, which consist of a series of notes and cackles that are reminiscent of a recorded human conversation being played too quickly.

The swamp palm bulbul was originally described in the genus Phyllastrephus. Alternative names for the swamp palm bulbul include the swamp bulbul, swamp greenbul, swamp palm greenbul, white-tailed greenbul and white-tailed palm greenbul. The alternate name 'white-tailed greenbul' is also used by the honeyguide greenbul and Sjöstedt's greenbul.

The swamp palm bulbul is found from Senegal and Gambia to north-eastern and central Democratic Republic of the Congo and northern Angola. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical swamps, and moist savanna.

Prairie Falcon
Falco mexicanus
Large, brown-and-white falcon of dry, open areas in western North America. Pale brown above and white below, with dark streaks and prominent mustache. Note the dark armpits to separate from Peregrine Falcon. Nests on cliffs, but ranges out over nearby grasslands and deserts when hunting. Feeds mainly on small rodents and birds.

Large and impressive toucan with a huge orange bill with a black tip and base. The body is mostly black with a white throat, and rump, and a red vent. Dark eyes are surrounded by orange and blue skin. Found in savanna and open woodland, avoiding humid forests. Makes a raucous far carrying croaking “wreh” call, and flies with noisy wingbeats.
Terrestrial Brownbul
Phyllastrephus terrestris
A dull, dark brown, gregarious understory brownbul with dark red eyes and a whitish throat. Small groups of 4-6 individuals skulk in thickets and in lowland and montane forest up to 2100 meters. They hop and sneak through the undergrowth, flicking dead leaves and looking for insects and small vertebrates, giving a series of harsh nasal “ugk-ugk-ugk-ugk” chuckling notes that draw attention to themselves. The similar Northern Brownbul differs from the Terrestrial Brownbul by having warmer reddish tones on the tail and rump, and by lacking a white throat.
