Chestnut-backed Laughingthrush
Pterorhinus nuchalis
A myna-sized bird with a large white cheek patch and a black forehead, chin, and throat. Note the gray belly, the reddish back, and a small white patch on the forehead. A relatively rare bird that prefers somewhat degraded forests and scrub. Very skulking, it forages on the ground in pairs or small groups. The song consists of short, fluting whistles delivered one after the other and often combined with some trills and mimicry.

White-tailed Kite
Elanus leucurus
Mostly white, small hawk. Gray wings and back with black shoulders. Hovers over open areas in search of mice, snakes, and other prey. Perches atop tall vegetation in open landscapes including coastal plains and agricultural areas.

Green Heron
Butorides virescens
Small, dark heron with a blue-green back, rusty-colored neck and dark cap. Usually in a crouched position, partly concealed in vegetation, waiting patiently for prey. In flight, looks like an awkward crow with broad wings, neck tucked in, and legs extending just beyond the tail. Often vocal when flushed; gives a sharp "skeiw!"

Yellow-chinned Spinetail
Certhiaxis cinnamomeus
Small, long-tailed spinetial that is rufous above and white below with a white eyebrow. Note the yellow chin, which can sometimes be difficult to see. Usually seen in pairs foraging in marshes, at the edges of mangroves and in damp grasslands. The song, usually given as a duet, is a loud rattle.
