Morelet's Seedeater
Sporophila morelleti
Fairly common little bird of grassland and weedy areas in the tropical lowlands and foothills. Occurs from Texas to Panama. Often in flocks, mixing readily with other “weed-eating” small birds. Plumage is very variable, but all birds have a stubby dark bill with a curved culmen. Usually shows two whitish wingbars. Breeding plumage males with a black cap and bold white collar are usually outnumbered by female-plumaged birds, which are plain brownish, sometimes showing buffy wingbars.
分类信息
This species was formerly considered conspecific with the cinnamon-rumped seedeater (Sporophila torqueola), with the combined species known as white-collared seedeater. However, with the discovery that cinnamon-rumped and Morelet's are deeply divergent from one another genetically, don't intergrade, and aren't even each other's closest relatives within the genus, they are now treated as separate species.

分布与栖息地
It ranges from a small area along the Rio Grande near San Ignacio, Texas in the United States south through eastern Mexico and Central America to Panama. It mainly inhabits tropical and subtropical grasslands, savannas, and shrublands but can also be found in pastures, arable land, and heavily degraded former forests.

Guianan Warbling-Antbird
Hypocnemis cantator
Small antbird; most easily identified by conspicuously striped head, contrasting tawny flanks, and sluggish behavior. Most common in disturbed and secondary forests, at forest edges, and near treefall gaps. Almost always found in pairs and within a few meters of the ground; sometimes follows army ants and understory mixed-species flocks. Very vocal and not shy but can be hard to see well; often scolds observers while darting from perch to perch.

Handsome and eye-catching bird that is fairly common in grassland, steppe, matorral, farmland, and even town parks with grassy areas. Feeds mainly on the ground, at times in small groups, but male sings from prominent perches and in flight. Male has a bright red breast, long pointed bill, and white eyebrow. Female has much less red below, but note size and shape, and pale eyebrow. No similar species in its Chilean range, but in Argentina compare with Pampas Meadowlark.
Five-colored Barbet
Capito quinticolor
Colorful barbet of lowland rainforest west of the Andes; scarce and declining in northwestern Ecuador, but more common in parts of southwestern Colombia. Male is black and yellow with red crown, white throat, and streaked flanks. Female is heavily spotted with black below, and has black and yellow streaking on head. Usually stays high in trees and often joins mixed-species flocks. Male sings a series of ten or more soft “boo” notes; he hunches over and looks like he’s retching while singing.
