Southern Antpipit
Corythopis delalandi
Medium-sized odd-looking, ground-walking flycatcher of humid forests and second growth. Unmistakable in most of its range with its olive-brown back, yellow bill, white face and belly, and black breast. Told from Ringed Antpipit, for which there is barely any distributional overlap, by being paler and less olive above with a creamier chin and throat. Generally shy but its song is very distinct: a melodic series of explosive “preeeh-prrrwee-prurr-prii” notes. Also makes loud bill-snapping noises.

The range of the southern antpipit is a 3200 km by 3000 km contiguous area of southern Brazil bordered on the west by the pantanal and the southern cerrado. The range covers extreme eastern Bolivia, and extends eastward including the eastern half of Paraguay with the northeast tongue region of Argentina.<p>Coastal ranges on the southern Atlantic extend from central Rio de Janeiro south to central São Paulo.<p>There is no intersecting in the northern or western Cerrado with its other Corythopis species, the ringed antpipit, though its range extends upstream in the southern Amazon Basin into the northwestern Cerrado.

Pink-bellied Imperial-Pigeon
Ducula poliocephala
A large pigeon of foothill and lower montane forest canopy with a white head, a dark bluish-gray chest and upper back, green wings, a whitish belly with a pink tinge, and rufous under the base of the tail. Note the large red eye-ring. Somewhat similar to Mindoro Imperial-Pigeon, but Pink-bellied has a dark neck and chest. Song is a deep, booming, upslurred “doo-dup! doo-dup!”which can be heard from a distance.
Bronzed Cowbird
Molothrus aeneus
Dark brown to matte black; males with iridescent bluish wings. Thick neck and heavy bill. Look for vampire-like staring red eye. Males have an incredible display where they puff out a mane of neck feathers and hover in a circle above the female. Found in a variety of open or semi-open areas, including pastures, forest edge, yards, and agricultural areas. Visits feeders. Often in flocks, sometimes with other blackbirds.
Black-collared Swallow
Pygochelidon melanoleuca
Small, handsome swallow of boulder-strewn rivers. Black-and-white pattern is distinctive but can be surprisingly hard to discern in bright sunlight. Note long-tailed profile and habitat. When gliding, often appears to hold wings below the horizontal. Seldom if ever encountered away from rocky rapids, around which groups cluster, sitting directly on rocks and flying about, chasing insects. Tends not to fly higher than treetop level. Often found with the more widespread White-banded Swallow.
