Gray Thornbill
Acanthiza cinerea
A tiny bird of montane forest canopy. Medium gray above and clean white below with a black bill and dark eye. Forages very actively in small single or mixed species flocks and often hovers to catch insects. Similar to Papuan Thornbill and Brown-breasted Gerygone, but Gray Thornbill is distinctly gray rather than brown above. Voice very similar to Brown-breasted Gerygone and birds even respond those calls. Song, a descending series of high-pitch, slurred notes. Call, high-pitch chips.

Nepal House-Martin
Delichon nipalense
A typical house-martin, with dark upperparts, white underparts, a white rump, and a rather dumpy body. Differs from Common and Asian House-Martins by its sooty throat. Upperparts can have a bluish gloss if seen in good light. Breeds on ridges and cliffs, and occasionally around human settlements. Associates with other swallows and swifts, often gathering over water to catch emerging insects.

Lazuli Kingfisher
Todiramphus lazuli
A stunning blue-and-white kingfisher with entirely blue upperparts in both sexes. Female has white throat and pale blue breast and belly, but male shows more white, with pale blue confined to belly. Juvenile resembles dull male, with buff throat, spot near bill, and speckled breast and collar. Found singly and in pairs in lowland wooded areas, including cultivated areas and mangroves. Pale blue underside is unique among kingfishers in its limited south Moluccan range. Rowdy vocalizations include repetitive “ker-chick” series and “ki-ki-ki-ki…” calls.

White-banded Tanager
Neothraupis fasciata
Medium-sized, strikingly-plumaged tanager resembling a shrike with its mostly gray coloration, a broad black mask, and a white shoulder patch. Occurs in savanna and grasslands with scattered trees where it can be seen in small groups and sometimes accompanying mixed-species flocks. Song is a series of high chipping notes.
