Red-flanked Lorikeet
Hypocharmosyna placentis
A small, long-tailed green parrot with a dark cheek patch and red in the tail. Males possess a red throat and flanks that are absent in females. Males show violet-blue cheeks that are streaked in females. Juveniles resemble females. Found in groups in forest, edges, plantations, mangroves, and varied wooded areas in lowlands and foothills. Male differs from Red-fronted Lorikeet in showing a red throat and extensive red flanks, and both sexes differ in lacking a red forecrown and showing red in the tail. Separated from Red-chinned Lorikeet by the dark ear patches in both sexes, and red flanks in male. Gives shrill, high-pitched screeches and chattering notes.

Delicate Prinia
Prinia lepida
Tiny, disproportionately long-tailed, active, and vocal. The upperparts are gray-brown with heavy dark streaking, the underparts are pale, and each tail feather shows both pale and dark tips. Generally found in rather moist habitats within arid zones, including field margins, riparian woodland, scrub, gardens, and wetlands; can be quite numerous. Very vocal, especially in spring. The song is a rattling series of dry chirps, subtly different from the slower-paced song of Graceful Prinia. Males often sing from obvious perches. Visually extremely similar to Graceful Prinia, but there is little overlap in range. In any areas of overlap, best separated by song, but Delicate is also slightly longer- and narrower-tailed and browner.

Gray-crowned Tetraka
Xanthomixis cinereiceps
Attractive, medium-sized tetraka. Green back, gray head, white throat, and yellowish underparts. Madagascar endemic that is found in eastern rainforest at middle and high elevations. Inhabits the mid-story, most often feeding by creeping along mossy branches like a woodpecker. Frequently joins flocks with tetrakas and other species. Call is a series of high, silvery, sputtered “sit” notes. Separated from Spectacled Tetraka by its smaller size, brighter underparts, gray head, and tree-creeping habits.

Congo Sunbird
Cinnyris congensis
A slim, long-billed sunbird in which males and females are very different. Males are mostly black and dark green, with a red band across the underparts and extremely elongated central tail feathers. Females are very plain, gray-brown above and paler below. A localized and poorly known species that is found in rainforest along the banks of large rivers. Similar to Orange-tufted Sunbird, but male has a red rather than purple breast band and an elongated central tail, and the female is even plainer. The female is also similar to female Green Sunbird, but is longer-billed. The voice is unknown.
