Streaky-breasted Flufftail
Sarothrura boehmi
Small rail of grassland habitats. Very shy and elusive bird that is unlikely to be seen unless expressly searched for. Male has a rufous head and black body with heavy white streaks. Female is dark brown with barring below. Found mainly in seasonally flooded grassland, and sometimes in drier grassland. Main call is a simple, repeated hoot. Also gives quicker series of calls with a similar quality. Similar to Striped and Red-chested Flufftails, but males have more white below, with less rufous on the chest than Red-chested, and more than Striped. Females are darker below.

Say's Phoebe
Sayornis saya
Medium-sized flycatcher with distinctive salmon-orange wash on the belly. Otherwise grayish-brown with a contrasting black tail. Also watch for frequent tail-wagging. Widespread and fairly common in western North America. Breeds as far north as Alaska, and winters to southern Mexico. Always in open habitats, usually on a conspicuous low perch.

Pied Imperial-Pigeon
Ducula bicolor
Robust, gregarious, and black-trimmed large white pigeon. Inhabits coastal forests on small offshore islands, only making occasional forays to mainland areas to forage and to roost. Often perches high on the bare branches of trees or on power/telephone lines; often found in flocks of ten or more. Song is very low in pitch and includes “woo-oo-woooo,” with the last syllable drawn out; loud at first and then trailing off. Compare with Silver-tipped and Torresian Imperial-Pigeons where overlap exists; no similar species in introduced range in the Caribbean.

Bare-faced Ground Dove
Metriopelia ceciliae
Attractive but easily overlooked small dove of the Andes. Fairly common on rocky and scrubby slopes around towns and villages in agricultural areas. Usually in pairs or flocks, sometimes mixed with other seed-eating birds. Feeds on ground, but perches on walls and prominent rocks; often not seen until flushed from close range, when flies up with a loud rattling wing whistle. Pale-dappled wing coverts and big orange eyering are diagnostic.
