Cichladusa ruficauda
Zorzal bastante liso con cola rufa, dorso pardo, garganta de color ante y ojo rojo. Se encuentra en arbolados y matorrales, usualmente en áreas con palmas. El hermoso canto es una mezcla variable de silbidos y notas ásperas, y a veces incorpora mimetismo de otras especies de aves. Algo similar a la Collalba Familiar, pero fácilmente separable por su tamaño más grande, ojos rojos y la falta de un patrón de "T" negra en la cola.
Identificación
Its length is 17–18 cm (6.7–7.1 in), and its weight is 22–37 g (0.78–1.31 oz). The sexes are alike. The head and nape are bright rufous-brown. The back, scapulars and the median and greater coverts are also rufous-brown, but are slightly paler. The flight feathers are dark brown, with rufous or rufous-brown edges, and the underwing coverts are pale buffish-brown. The rump and tail are rufous-brown or chestnut. The face and neck-sides are mostly pale grey, with the lores being darker. The chin, throat and upper breast are yellowish-buff. The breast and flanks are pale grey, and the centre of the belly is pale buff. The colour of the eyes ranges from brown to red. The beak is black, and the legs can be pale brown, pale purple or bluish-grey. The juvenile bird has dark streaks on its crown and nape and dark bars on its back. Its underparts are mostly greyish, with dark or dusky mottles.
Taxonomía
The rufous-tailed palm thrush was described as Bradyornis ruficauda by Hartlaub in 1857. The species is monotypic.

Distribución y hábitat
This species is found in Angola, Central African Republic, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and Namibia. The size of its range is estimated at 1,700,000 km2 (660,000 sq mi). Its habitat is palms, dry forests and secondary forests in riparian and coastal areas, at elevations of up to 1,200 m (3,900 ft). It also occurs in banana plantations and gardens.

Comportamiento
The rufous-tailed palm thrush is shy, usually found in pairs or small groups. It gives the call churr when alarmed. Its song, usually given at dawn or dusk, is a series of loud and melodious whistles, mixed with babbling and chattering. Pairs of birds sometimes duet. It forages on the ground, mainly feeding on adults and larvae of beetles, spiders, and fruits. Breeding has been recorded from August to April. The species is monogamous. The nest is built at the base of a palm leaf, in a crevice in a tree trunk, and sometimes in other positions. It is a deep, thick cup, made of mud and lined with grass and plant fibres. There are one to four eggs in a clutch. The eggs are pale greenish, with faint freckles. It is not migratory.

Tordo oscuro, liso y de cola larga. La cola es negruzca con grandes esquinas blancas, y las alas muestran parches rufos en vuelo. Se encuentra en o cerca del suelo en bosques húmedos. Generalmente tímido y retraído. A menudo sigue enjambres de hormigas. Las vocalizaciones comunes son un silbido largo y agudo y un corto trino "brttt". Similar al Hormiguero Cola Roja, pero tiene una cola negra y blanca en lugar de rojiza. También similar al Tordo Papamoscas de Finsch, pero tiene una postura más horizontal y pasa su tiempo cerca del suelo en lugar de en el sotobosque medio.

Este atractivo carricero es casi endémico de los Andes bolivianos, apenas cruzando la frontera hacia Perú. Observe el patrón ornamentado de la cabeza y el plumaje oliva (no amarillo). Muy similar al Carricero Ribereño y la forma de vientre blanco del Carricero de Corona Dorada, pero tiene un bucle oscuro debajo del ojo y se encuentra en elevaciones más altas. Generalmente se ve en parejas en los niveles bajos a medios del bosque nuboso. Su canto es una serie ascendente de notas aflautadas seguida de un parloteo. Antiguamente considerado un grupo de subespecies del Carricero de Tres Rayas.

Un cuco enorme, negro por encima y blanco por debajo. El inmaduro tiene barras blancas a lo largo de sus partes superiores. Parece un ave rapaz en su vuelo potente y en picada. Ave poco común de la selva tropical, bosques de galería y bosques húmedos, especialmente el miombo. La llamada es un fuerte y repetido “wheet-it”, a menudo emitida en un vuelo de exhibición alto. El adulto se separa de los cucos Didi, de Levaillant y Pío por su falta de cresta o blanco en el ala. El inmaduro es similar al Cuco Didi, pero tiene motas blancas y negras en la cabeza y carece de cresta.
