Pohnpei White-eye

Zosterops ponapensis

Small gray bird endemic to Pohnpei, in the Caroline Islands of Micronesia. Uniform plumage makes it unmistakable on the island; Caroline Islands White-eye is yellowish overall, while Long-billed White-eye is greenish with a much longer bill. Moves in noisy, active flocks through a range of wooded habitats. Song is a long, well-spaced series of squeaky warbled phrases. Scratchy, somewhat nasal calls include descending “jeer” notes and noisy chattering.
