Fulvous Shrike-Tanager
Lanio fulvus
This tanager inhabits lowland and foothill rainforest and is almost always encountered with large mixed-species flocks. Male is burnt-orange with black hood and wings: somewhat reminiscent of an oriole. Female is drab, confusing, and rather variable, but she is usually darker tawny or ochraceous on the belly and rump compared to females of similar species; also note hooked bill. Quite vocal, often giving a repeated “cheer” and an abrupt rattle.

Philippine Nightjar
Caprimulgus manillensis
A medium-sized night bird of forest and open areas from the lowlands to the mountains. Heavily patterned in various shades of brown, with finely barred underparts, blotching on the chest, and dark wings with large pinkish and white spots and a broad pale bar bordered with black. Note the white lines on the side of the throat with a black line below, and the broad white band on the end of the undertail. Voice is a distinctive, loud two-noted “pyok prraw,” the second note slightly lower and with a vibrating quality.

Banded Martin
Neophedina cincta
Large brown-and-white swallow with a band across the chest and a pale mark above the eye. In flight, shows broad wings with large white patches below. Found mainly in grassland and wetland, though ranges widely over other open habitats. Often in flocks, sometimes mixed with other swallow and swift species. Song is a fast, twanging jumble. Similar to Bank Swallow, but much larger, with white patches under the wing and with a square tail.
