Yellow-scarfed Tanager

Iridosornis reinhardti

Beautiful tanager found only in Peru, where it inhabits high-elevation cloud forest in the eastern Andes. Blue with a black head; the thick yellow band that wraps around the top of its head is unique and makes it easy to identify when seen well. Usually seen in small groups, often with mixed-species flocks, and feeds on fruit and insects.
