Olive-spotted Hummingbird
Talaphorus chlorocercus
Medium-sized, drab-greenish hummingbird. Dull green above, with diffuse olive spotting underneath, and a white belly. Sexes similar. Found in riverside habitats, especially in cane and other dense vegetation on river islands.
Identification
The olive-spotted hummingbird is 12 cm (4.7 in) long and weighs about 6 g (0.21 oz). The sexes are essentially the same. They have a straight blackish bill; the females are slightly longer than the males. Adults have a bronze crown and neck and the rest of their upper parts are grayish-green to bronze-green. Their throat is olive green which sometimes appears speckled with golden green and the rest of the underparts are whitish. Their tail is pale grayish green to olive green with grayish tips on the inner feathers and grayish outer webs to the others. The outer feathers also have a dark bar near the end. Juveniles are very similar but have more grayish brown underparts.
Taxonomy
The olive-spotted hummingbird was previously placed in the genus Leucippus. A molecular phylogenetic study published in 2014 found that Leucippus was polyphyletic. To avoid the polyphyly the olive-spotted hummingbird was moved by most taxonomic systems to the resurrected genus Talaphorus. However, BirdLife International's Handbook of the Birds of the World retains it in Leucippus.<p>The olive-spotted hummingbird is the only member of its genus and has no subspecies.

Range and habitat
The olive-spotted hummingbird is found along the upper Amazon River and its major tributaries in northwestern Brazil, eastern Ecuador, northeastern Peru, and extreme southeastern Colombia. It has habitat requirements unique among hummingbirds: It is found almost entirely on young river islands and sometimes on the adjacent "mainland" shore. It keeps to shrubby open woodland and early successional vegetation. In elevation it occurs only up to 400 m (1,300 ft).

Spanish Eagle
Aquila adalberti
Rare eagle breeding only in Spain and Portugal, with some immatures dispersing into North Africa. Very similar to the closely-related Imperial Eagle, but is darker overall and adults have a distinctive white leading wing edge on the shoulders which can been seen from below when flying. Juveniles are rufous and largely unstreaked on the upperwings, underwings, and the breast compared to the heavily streaked Imperial Eagles. Mostly found in remote forested landscapes, especially those with a high density of rabbits.

White-winged Scoter
Melanitta deglandi
Large scoter, with distinctive white patch on wing. Dark chocolate-brown overall; males are darker than females and have small white mark under eye, dark knob on the bill, and pink bill tip. Females have two rounded white patches on face. At a distance, separated from Surf Scoter by more sloping head shape and white in the wing. Winters on coastal waters and large freshwater lakes. Occasionally found on large inland lakes during migration. Dives frequently, feeding on mollusks and crustaceans.

Guam Rail
Gallirallus owstoni
A short-tailed, mostly flightless rail, known locally as the Ko’ko’, with reddish chestnut upperparts and white-barred black underparts. Gray on the chest and throat with a pale gray eyebrow. Once widespread across most habitats, it became extinct in the wild in the 1980s, but has been reintroduced in carefully managed areas thanks to a captive breeding program. Similar to Buff-banded Rail, but lacks chestnut on the face and breast, and has a more extensive area of black with white barring below. Upperside is also much plainer reddish. Most commonly heard giving short “kip” notes, but also loud screeches during breeding season.
