Principe White-eye
Zosterops ficedulinus
A small, active, mostly dull olive-green and gray warbler-like bird with a white eye-ring that is obvious with a good view. An uncommon resident in the forest canopy of interior Príncipe, where small groups join mixed-species flocks. A dry, reedy chittering contact call is often the first sign of their presence. Principe White-eye may join the same flocks as Principe Speirops, which is slightly larger and has a much whiter head.

Olive Long-tailed Cuckoo
Cercococcyx olivinus
Dark gray cuckoo with an unusually long tail and barring on the underparts. Found in forest and thick woodland. Shy and retiring, and most easily found by voice. There are two main vocalizations. One is a long series of slurred “treow” calls which become more emphatic. This sometimes leads into the second call type, which is a three-noted “toot twet tow.” Very similar to Dusky Long-tailed Cuckoo, and best separated by voice, but also identified by paler upperparts, narrower barring on the underparts, and paler rufous on the undertail.
Mouse-colored Sunbird
Cyanomitra veroxii
Large, gray sunbird with a long, down-curved bill. The wings and tail are blackish, while the underparts are paler than the back. Can show red tufts on the shoulders, though these are usually concealed. Found in forest, mangroves, and scrub at low elevations, mostly near the coast. Most distinctive vocalization is a short series of “chyep” notes that usually goes up then down. Olive Sunbird is similar, but Mouse-colored Sunbird is gray rather than olive-green.
Steinbach's Canastero
Pseudasthenes steinbachi
A plain, chunky canastero of the Monte desert region in Argentina. Often in low, dense vegetation. From other canasteros by its relatively plain gray head. From similar Patagonian Canastero by Steinbach’s rufous wing and tail feathers. Prefers thorn forest and open woodland. Song a fast series of notes, lower and more gravelly than the similar Patagonian Canastero, slightly accelerating over the ~2 seconds in which it is given.
